SOLUTION

magnify image FigureF4.5 The shipping page informs customers of their options and costs for shipping, while moving them through the checkout process with little distraction.

Provide a pick list or radio buttons for selecting shipping options. Give a highlevel description of the delivery time frames and the associated costs. Calculate the shipping costs on the basis of size and weight of the products being shipped. Provide links to more in-depth information about shipping issues, including international requirements and insurance.

Other Patterns to Consider

Help customers select a shipping method by having a CLEAR FORM (H10) that helps PREVENT ERRORS (K12) and provides MEANINGFUL ERROR MESSAGES (K13) when errors do occur. Use ACTION BUTTONS (K4) to lead customers to the next step in the checkout process. Display the shipping information in a GRID LAYOUT (I1), in CONTENT MODULES (D2). Provide links to your return policy to enable EASY RETURNS (F9) and to assure customers that they can change their minds if they’re not satisfied.
