Provide bread crumb links that show how to get from the homepage to the current page and back. Use a string of back links and separate them by a pointing (>) character.

Other Patterns to Consider

Use OBVIOUS LINKS (K10) for bread crumbs to make them easy to see and understand. Bread crumbs are usually placed at the top of a page’s GRID LAYOUT (I1). They can interfere with NAVIGATION BARS (K2) that run across the top. In these cases, it is usually better to place the bread crumbs underneath the navigation bar.
